Library of Things

The Copper Queen Library's Library of Things is a collection of useful things for your home, projects and adventures that you can check out for FREE with your Copper Queen Library card.   Need something for a one-time project or want to try before you buy? Explore the collection and discover your next new Thing to borrow!

The Library of Things Rules:

Patrons must be at least 18 years old to check out items from the Copper Queen Library of Things.
Parents/guardians are responsible for items used by underage patrons.
Items from the Library of Things circulate for seven (7) days.
Items may be renewed unless another patron has a hold on it.
Patrons are responsible for reading all instructions associated with the item and using the item safely and correctly.
Items that are lost or damaged shall be paid in full or replaced with an equivalent copy purchased by the patron.

Birding Backpacks

Curious about birds in our area? Get outside and explore the world of birds and nature with our Birding Backpack! Bird watching is an activity for people of all ages and abilities, and our Birding Backpacks are for beginner birders, avid birders, and people who are just curious to try.  Bird with your family, with friends, or on your own!  Backpacks are available for both adults and children.

Blood Pressure Kit Icon 2024

Blood Pressure Monitor Kits

Having high blood pressure (hypertension) increases your risk for heart disease and stroke. Hypertension usually has no symptoms, so you may not even realize your blood pressure is high. Taking your blood pressure daily from home is a proven way to monitor and control your blood pressure. Share your results with your doctor.  Your doctor will give you options like medication and lifestyle changes to keep your blood pressure in check.  Kits are checked out for three (3) weeks.

Book Club Kits

Patrons interested in hosting their own book discussion group are encouraged to check out a book kit from the Copper Queen Library. Book Kits come with multiple copies of the book and sometimes includes discussion questions.  There are over 190 book kits within the Cochise County Library District.

Button Maker Kit

Got an idea, a design, or just love making cool stuff? Check out the Copper Queen Library’s Button Maker Kit! Patrons can design and press their own custom buttons -great for events, gifts, or just showing off your style! Our Button Maker Kit comes with the button press, a circle cutter to neatly cut out your designs, & materials to make 10 buttons. Patrons are encouraged to purchase their own button-making supplies if they want to make more buttons.

Chess Set

Play chess at home or on the road by checking out one of our Chess Sets.  Each set comes with a magnetic folding chess board and 32 pieces.  Need some help?  Check out our collection of chess books for both adults and children and learn new strategies to help you master the game.
And, be sure to check out the Copper Queen Library's Chess Club which meets on Saturdays throughout the year.  Please check the library's current program calendar to see when the Chess Club meets next.
Culture Pass Icon

Culture Pass

Act One's Culture Pass provides access for students, retirees, and under-resourced families to visit Arizona's arts and cultural treasures. Act One partners with over 150 libraries statewide to allow library cardholders the opportunity to checkout free passes.  Culture Passes are available on a first-come, first-served basis and may not be reserved, set aside for later pickup, or transferred to another location for pickup.Only individuals with a full-service library card may check out Culture Passes. Only one pass may be checked out per household, per week, with a maximum of two passes per household in a 30-day period. Culture Passes check out for seven days and cannot be renewed.

Mobile Internet Hotspot Program

The Copper Queen Library's Mobile Internet Hotspot Program provides patrons in our community with high-speed internet access at home or on the road. Patrons will be able to take advantage of our Wi-Fi hotspot lending program with a Copper Queen Library card that is in good standing (i.e. library card is not blocked due to unpaid fines or lost material). A Hotspot Lending Policy must be reviewed and signed by the patron before a hotspot can be checked out. Checkouts are for three (3) weeks.

The Copper Queen Library's Musical Instrument Library is just getting going!  Currently, the CQL has ukuleles, a digital keyboard and an amp to power your own sound.  The library's print collection also includes study and lesson guides to learn how to play both the ukulele and the keyboard.

Our play sets bring make-believe worlds to life, while inspiring role play outfits give dress-up playtime a creative boost! We love how kids discover their passions through play, whether they're putting out pretend fires or listening to their doll's heartbeat. Recreation Sports Library Square Icon 2025

Recreation / Sports Library

The Library also has outdoor recreational equipment for patrons to check out, including Pickleball Rackets & Balls, Bocce Ball Sets, Horseshoe Sets, Jarts, Giant Jenga, and Metal Detectors.

The Copper Queen Library Bike Repair Station is located in the parking lot of the CQ Library Annex at 519 W Melody Lane.  The station is equipped with tools and an air pump so that patrons can do simple bicycle repairs themselves.

Seed Library Square

Seed Library

The Copper Queen Seed Library allows patrons to “check out” vegetable, flower and herb seeds to plant in their home gardens. The goal of the seed library is to form and encourage a learning community centered around the saving and sharing of seeds in our unique desert climate. Patrons are encouraged to harvest and return seeds from their healthiest plants to ensure the sustainability of the project.

Created for caregivers to share with early learners and grade schoolers, the Copper Queen Library’s new Social Emotional Learning Kits are designed to help children develop emotional intelligence, which is crucial for navigating complex social situations and understanding their own and others' emotions. 
Each kit includes books and materials that caregivers can use to teach their children about managing difficult emotions, making responsible decisions, handling stress, setting goals and building healthy relationships. Kits are checked out for seven (7) days.

Tool Library - CQ Library Annex

Our Tool Library offers free checkout of home and garden tools and more with your Copper Queen Library Card. This program eliminates cost-related barriers to home improvements and encourages community sharing. The Copper Queen Tool Library is sponsored by the City of Bisbee, the Friends of the Copper Queen Library, and by the Bisbee Bloomers, who donated funds for the gardening tools.

Wildlife Camera Kit

Join a growing network of wildlife cameras and help observe presence, absence, and seasonal movements of species in the Sky Islands of the U.S. and Mexico by checking out one of our Wildlife Camera Kits.  It’s easy to get started—and you can do it all from the comfort of your home. Just set up a wildlife camera and submit an online monthly FotoFauna checklist of the species you observe. This data will help Sky Island Alliance and its partners study when and where wildlife is present so we can better protect their habitats and pathways.
